Mason's Transformations - Chapter 5

Mason's Transformations
A New Pup

Mason stood there, staring at the young pup. His eyes moved from the pup's blond hair to its blue teary eyes and finally to the scar above its left eye. There before Mason, stood the same frightened pup from his dream the night before. The very same boy, he had locked eyes with, while waiting in his barred cage. Only, this boy had changed. There was no longer anything that suggested he had been a "boy" at any time of his life. The fear in that Mason had seen in the pup's eyes were gone, replaced with a warm adoration and look of utter delight. What blew Mason away, however, was the pup's "new" body. The pup looked barely human. Although his face remained intact, his arms and legs had been resized to look proportionately even. The knee joints were reinforced and the pup's fingers were sized down and appeared more pawlike. This was a pup, through and though.

"It's pretty amazing isn't it?" said Adam, half glancing at Mason and back to this fresh pup. "He has no more humanity left in him, unfortunately he was..." Adam trailed off for a moment to catch Mason's reaction to his words. "...a complete success." Adam frowned a little and Mason sat there for a moment trying to understand what that meant for the pup. "Does that mean there is no going back for him?" thought Mason, as he turned his looked over at the pup's drool hanging halfway to the floor. A clinking sound pulled Mason out of his thoughts again as Adam tugged on the chain attached to the new pup's collar. Both of them walked a bit closer to Mason and Adam had stopped sensing both pups had become apprehensive. The pup edged closer, still panting and drooling somewhat at the corners of his mouth. For a second, Mason was more concerned about not getting the other pup's drool on his comfortable wool bed, but instead he got up on all fours and slowly edged forward.

Mason could feel the primal beating in his heart this time, as he edged closer to the pup. He knew deep inside that there was only the slightest thread holding his instincts at bay. He felt deep inside, that if this pup asserted it's dominance in any way, he would brawl with it and assert his dominance. After all, it only seemed fair. But now, Mason was now very close to the pup, and could feel its warm breath inches away from his face. As he peered down, he saw the collar had a very small plate on it with "CRUISER" written in big bold letters. When he looked up, Mason realized he was the recipient of a very wet lick from the opposing side. And for a moment, Mason stood there, feeling the cool wet slobber on his face. With a snort, he ignored it and continued to move around the pup, and again felt another lick on his bare thigh from Cruiser. Mason would have thought he would have lost control at this point, but he didn't feel the slightest tinge of wanting to dominate this pup, nor did he feel the pup was a treat in any way. His body did however, force him into another hostile takeover, in which, his instincts got the better of him took and proceeded to sniff for any sign of hostility from the pup. He sniffed Cruiser's entire body, looking for what his eyes had surely missed. But, alas, there were only the tender smells and aromas of this pup filling his nostrils. And absolutely no sign of a threat. After Mason had finished, the other pup was free to reciprocate, and searched Mason's armpits, feet, paws, and butt, leaving wet licks wherever his nose has glossed over.

"Good boys!" said Adam, half-relieved that the pup had gotten off to such a great start. He produced two biscuits and gave one to each pup. Needless to say, both wolfed the treat down like air and left few crumbs. Mason was thoroughly enjoying the attention from Adam, and felt slightly eased that there was another pup just like him. But, Mason froze after this thought. "Like him..." the thought sent shivers down his spine and he whimpered slightly. Had he been altered surgically like Cruiser? He began to look at himself up and down, but found it difficult to see himself with the firm collar around his neck. He tried looking at his body, but finding no way to view himself, he whimpered again and rest on the floor dejectedly. Adam removed Cruiser's chain and the pup approached Mason, who proceeded to lay down and rest his head upon Mason's back. Adam seemed to sense what was pulsing through Mason's head. "Your a different pup." said Adam. He continued, "Not like Cruiser." as he glanced over to see Cruiser now resting soundly on Mason. "You see, other than the programming, they couldn't complete your 'transformation. You stopped the process yourself, somehow. And the were going to discard you until I stepped in... '"

Mason cocked his head to the side and looked confused by Adam's words. It was almost as if the pup inside of him had heard what Adam had said. And with that, Adam left the room, and closed the door, leaving the two pups to rest and to nuzzle each other softly.
